Intelight ESB Signals Here's one of the largest installs of Intelight ESB signals I know of. These control the only [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-point_urban_interchange]SPUI interchange[/url] in Ontario and replaced a bunch of [url=http://www.thekingshighway.ca/PHOTOS-4/hwy406-8_lg.jpg]3Ms[/url] when they switched from incandescent to LED. If you look closely at the pic from 2005 you can see that they replaced the gantry with a more or less identical one. These are optically programmable signals that achieve a similar end result as the 3M but relies on a programmable array of LEDs instead of masking an optical limiter lens to control the light beam. Intelight ESB Signals

Here's one of the largest installs of Intelight ESB signals I know of. These control the only SPUI interchange in Ontario and replaced a bunch of 3Ms when they switched from incandescent to LED. If you look closely at the pic from 2005 you can see that they replaced the gantry with a more or less identical one.

These are optically programmable signals that achieve a similar end result as the 3M but relies on a programmable array of LEDs instead of masking an optical limiter lens to control the light beam. Note that only the two diagonal arrows are visible.

Hmm. I wonder why they didn't use tunnel or full circle visors with louvers. Here RIDOT probably would have used louvers with full circle visors since they don't want to spend the money on these programmable heads. Just a basic signal will break the bank so i can only imagine how much this intersection had cost! Shocked

there's a sorta similar intersection here.

I'm guessing that they thought snow would accumulate too easily in tunnel visors and louvers. From what Nick posted on here these cost around $1400 per head which is around three times as what a standard LED signal costs. Shocked

There's also 13 of these at this intersection too (one is on the left outisde of the frame).

I know Toronto didn't want to spend money on these programmable heads so they have odd looking 3M combo head in use and even some of those ancient 3M 8" adapters in use too. They also have some tunnel visors and louvers too.

Intelight provides a heating unit for cold regions as an option. The ESB is $1,880 for a basic three light signal. There are two programming kits. One uses a laptop with the signal software installed and serial interface kit. Its used for in shop work and is the version i bought for my signal. It costs a few hundred dollars. In service these signals are programmed using the wireless kit that transmits information via wifi between your cell phone with software app, the radio kit, and the modem inside the signal. It costs about $1000. But its free with the purchase of 10 ESBs

Ahh thanks for the info, I looked around on their site and I couldn't find much about their signal heads.

They have some info but Intelight's main product focus is in their controllers...especially the X2 NEMA with color touch screen.

Cool, the X2 NEMA controller sounds pretty impressive but I guess they cost a arm and a leg.

Interesting that it uses modified versions of Android and Linux as their base firmware too, I'm guessing most controllers would have custom firmware.

X2 is priced about the same as most typical controllers. I'm facebook friends with one of the engineers at Intelight and have talked to the owner of Intelight and a program manager for the ESB software development. They're keeping their eyes open for a surplus X2 to sell/give me.

Intelight's proprietary software for X2 is Max Time. But its android driven so it can run any app installed. One went to a trade show with Angry Birds installed.
