Philips 35w HPS
These are the only 35w HPS lamps I can find locally now, and with the $7 Luma HPS lamps only lasting a year and a half on average, I thought I'd try one. I was at first happy to see it wasn't a low-mercury version, but then I saw it was made in China. And while the innards look like an early 2000's US design, it appears to be hand-made - by someone who doesn't know how to make lamps. The frame is crooked, the ceramic-insulator base is crooked and the solder is poorly applied...all I can hope for is that at least the arc tube end seals and electrodes were properly manufactured so it doesn't leak.

I did find 3-packs of 35W HPS lamps for a dollar per lamp here. Sure Philips isn't great when it comes to HPS, but at a dollar a piece it can't be beat! Even if the lamp doesn't make 10,000 hours. You could buy 4 of these 3-packs for the price of a single Sylvania lamp, though the latter is much higher quality, 12 lamps will last longer than 1.

If it leaks, at least you get a nice shiny lamp. Laughing

I wanted to get some of those 35w coated HPS lamps but they want $30 to ship them to Canada Shocked Mad , well at least I still have the pair of GE HPS I got for 2 bucks at Restore to play around with.

Wow. Shocked shipping to me is $9.93 so a total of around $13. I remember when shipping with 1000bulbs to my house was a flat $5 (with the exception of long fluorescent tubes and other large/long items.
