General Electric Form 79 incandescent teardrop
Rescued from the front of a barn that was to be torn down, this is one of my two Form 79's; this has a plastic GE Lexalite lens and has its original multiple incandescent set up. I use a GE 300w mogul base clear incandescent lamp attached to a touch dimmer which soft starts the lamp, so it looks like it's on a series circuit when it is switched on.

Interesting that the old series circuits soft started the lamps. Nice save!

I remember reading about that. Something about the electro-mechanical regulator having to physically move coil windings(? I'd have to look it up again) and as it first starts up, it ramps up to the rated 6.6a or whatever the circuit is designed for.

Yes...as the regulator provides constant current, the filaments warm up slowly as the regulator limits the current they can draw. Here's one example.
