NEMA row
Some modifications done to the front row of my streetlight collection display, so it's not a true NEMA row anymore. Top to bottom: Line Materials Spherolite with T&B head; GE Form 79 with teardrop refractor; McGraw-Edison Yard Light; American Electric Dusk-to-Dawn. I have a variety of lamp types for these.

wow you have a tall garage! My garage is a single car and a little taller than the height of the liftmaster motor! (my door has the same motor too BTW.)
TiCoune66   [Mar 24, 2013 at 07:23 PM]
That looks nice. Cool If you ever want to add new fixtures, I've found out that old satellite dish mounting brackets work perfectly as streetlight arms! In my area old satellite dishes are plentiful so it's a much cheaper alternative LOL.

looks realy good set up like this, I would love to get a hold of an AEL like the one at the bottom of this pic with the tapered refractor.
streetlight98   [Mar 24, 2013 at 08:56 PM]
my dad and i removed the satellite dish off my house as it's no longer used, but it was mounted on a tripod on the roof, not a bracket. in fact, the tripod is still on the roof but with the satteilite dish removed so Hurricane Irene wouldn't tear the whole thing off the roof.

Cool setup! My old house had a garage with a 12+ feet ceiling so if I still lived there I think I would be able to build a similar setup.
streetlight98   [Mar 25, 2013 at 07:18 PM]
12+ feet, i hear the HID lowbays calling already. Razz Very Happy Maybe I'll try to get my dad to let my hang a couple fluorescents in the garage...
joe_347V   [Mar 25, 2013 at 08:25 PM]
That too, Razz right now my current garage (has a 8' ceiling) uses mostly fluorescent lights. Razz

my garage is about the same height. it has two 90 sylvania supersavers in keyless sockets. I used to call those lights bowling pins as a kid since that's what they look like IMO lol. Laughing just upside down, so maybe more of a uvula lol.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 01, 2013 at 03:25 PM]
I can just imagine 8' slimlines in Mike's garage!
streetlight98   [Apr 01, 2013 at 07:15 PM]
Eh. Not too much of a slimline person. Razz The ballasts are instant start aka boring lol. I like HO though and or course preheat and rapid start. plus it seems i'll have so many preheat F40 fixtures I'll have lots of 4ft fixtures! (and will be using lots of spraypaint also lol)
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 02, 2013 at 03:46 AM]
Laughing lots of spraypaint for sure! Are you going to restore them before selling them and include new lamps/starters?
joe_347V   [Apr 02, 2013 at 06:16 AM]
My garage has a mix of everything, RS for the 4' T12s and 8' T12 HOs, IS T8, PH, and even a HID merc yardlight.
streetlight98   [Apr 02, 2013 at 08:10 PM]
@ andy; I'll be repainting them if buyers ask. I'm not sending lamps since i'd hate to see them break and get wasted. I don't have a ton of starters myself so i'm not to hot on including them either... I don't really want to part with all of them though. I'll sell a couple. Joe is getting one. That leaves four so I'll probably sell one more and Aaron seemed interested in getting one so that's the other one I'd be selling. I may consider selling a third one. that'd leave me with two. The problem is that they're all different styles so it's hard to choose which ones i'd want to part with. the one with the mismatched sockets i defintly want to keep. same goes for a couple others as well as the F20 fixture. I'll see more about them when they come down though, as it's hard to see them well in a dim basement when they're mounted.

@ joe; hmm seems your garage is well-lit lol. i have two 90w incandescent lamps in keyless porcelain sockets. we don't do much in the garage so we don't need the extra light. I may end up mounted one or two of the preheaters from my aunt's and uncle's house though and the rest will either be sold or stored in the shed.
joe_347V   [Apr 02, 2013 at 09:46 PM]
Yep, my garage is pretty well lit although usually only the F96T12HO striplight and the F32T8 reflector light in the back is used. The other lights are only used only when I'm working in there.

The preheater you're hoping to send me might replace the F32T8 reflector light unless I keep it inside the house.
streetlight98   [Apr 02, 2013 at 09:52 PM]
is your garage separate from the house then? Hopefully all goes well! I don't know 100% if I'm getting all the lights. i may only be getting the three in the finished room and the f20 fixture. I suppose i can still send you one though. If the two over the work bench are kept (well, they might not be either since one of them over the workbench has the broken socket) i'll probably offer to replace them with a pair of LOA T8 shoplites. no sense in going T12 since a T12 modern LOA fixture would be worse than anything lol.
joe_347V   [Apr 02, 2013 at 11:47 PM]
It's attached to the house but you have to got outside to get in the garage as there's no door between the house and the garage.
streetlight98   [Apr 03, 2013 at 12:01 AM]
ahh that's like with my uncle John's garage. the house my Aunt Kerri and Uncle Roger recently bought doesn't have a garage, it has a car port overhang built into the house. I personally like the overhang as it doubles as a tent for small parties and as a porch if you want shade from the sun.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 03, 2013 at 02:22 AM]
Yeah, keeping the one with mis-matched sockets might make it have more character...
So Joseph, Aaron, and maybe someone else are getting one? COOL! Like I've said a million times I'd want one (and do) but shipping is too unrealistic I'm afraid...unless you saved one for me in the shed for sometime in the future... Laughing
streetlight98   [Apr 03, 2013 at 02:30 AM]
i don't want it becauseof the sockets i just like the design of the fixture. I'll probably swap the sockets out with matching ones when i restore it or at the vert least paint the back side of the white one black so it somewhat matches. once the fixture is all cleaned up and painted a mismatched socket will stick out like a sore thumb.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Apr 03, 2013 at 02:35 AM]
I would tend to agree there...when my old Sears shoplight gets restored it'll get new sockets and I'm considering retiring the tired GE Bonusline ballast (of course I'll keep it though).
