Title says it all! It had very early 70s feel in there! The wall ends were lit by PAR 38 track fixtures! The parking lot fixtures were actually old but had HPS which I believe is one of the early HPS fixtures! It will be posted later! Enjoy this picture and comment away!
By the way it wasn't as green looking like the picture, but the green effect on the picture shows they were MV!
We had a lot of Giant food Supermarkets (in Washington Area, VA, Delaware and probably PA and MD) that had similar fixtures but with different type reflectors and they were made by General Electric...and they were MH but I believe the eariler ones were MV (same exact fixtures) But Giant has been changing out fixtures with fluorescents.....mostly T5 HO and T8s
I've seen similar recessed high bays in a Hart store about 60 miles away from me! They were MV as well and a few still had 300W incandescents!
Over here it is very common to simply relamp with metal halide lamps, which is probably what most stores did in the late 80s here. In fact in most grocery stores, MH high bays are used. Some could actually be MV.
a Vons where m Mom lives used to have MV or MH fixtures like this in the produce area before they remodeled. I remember many coated BT lamps, not sure if they were MV or MH. This was like five years ago that they were removed. Last I was there (this summer) there were still a few of those outside.
MV would be obviously greener and has more softer glow.....and some would be dimmer than others, if not all of them relamped in same time
The MHs are much brighter and if they were BT they could be Sylvania branded MHs......my supermarket near me and as well all the other supermarket called "Giant foods" were MH lit (they were mainly GE fixtures with very reflective reflector in mirrored style) and last time I saw them still using them they were Sylvanias in BT shape....they removed most supermarket MH fixtures about 5 years ago too...
I really don't remember, but I think some were clear MH and some could have been coated MH or even MV. Most were BT shaped but some could have been ED shaped.

Some supermarkets here still install the old style continuous fluorescent striplights but they use T8s now instead of 8' T12 or HO lamps.
I only remember 8' slimlines in grocery stores in the 70s here.
