I remember buying a couple of these at RONA when were clearing them out around two-three years ago. I wonder who still sells these now...they're nicer than the comparable GE or even Philips lamps imo.

What date does two groups of 3 in-line dots on a newish Sylvania T12 translate to? All five are cool white deluxe so i think they're modern but I'm curious of the date. I know Dave would know...

It'd be cool to come accross preheat T5 fixture. Smile I've never seen a preheat fixture that's not T12 (or T17) in person though though and never a new preheat for sale. I didn't start paying attention to fluorescents until the production stopped for new preheat fixtures. Only HD has the chokes for sale though. Benny's sells old looking metal-cased Leviton starters but only FS-2, not FS-4. Durfee's/True Value Hardware sells a few different styles of starters. Maybe I'll find FS-20 or FS-40/400 if i look hard enough. I know they sell the lampholder/starter socket combos. Very Happy I wish the mogul bi-pin and T17 starter sockets and ballasts were still made though. Heck I want to see an NOS T17 fixture somewhere! The chances of that happening is probably equal to finding a F100T17 lamp. Apparently nobody has seen one in the past few decades. O_O Nobody on the LG has seen or owns a F100T17 lamp. I'll have to ask my grandpa is he knows about them since he learned a lot about fluorescents from his dad, who was head costodian at the main NECo building for decades.

The first thing i do after getting those T17s (after pics of course) I'll wash them down. I'll probably only repaint one though since i want to keep one original but i want the other to shine like new. Depending on the condition of the wiring, I may have to replace the ballasts. I should replace them anyways (but keep them safe of course!) because of the risk of PCBs leaking. I want too keep 'em going since there'll be a day when the fixtures and 90W lamps become as rare as the 100W T17s and sadly a day could come where the same holds true for mercury vapor lamps and fixtures. Sad Were the T17s ever popular or were they always a not-so-popular thing even back in the day?

Hmm, I think the preheat T5 fixtures might be still made or at least still for mine, I bought mine in mid 2009 and they were still made then. Also I think the F20 preheat strips are still made too and until a couple years ago the local Lowe's still sold them too.

I wish more T17 stuff was still made too...I guess I was lucky to score the T17 lampholders last year even though I don't have a T17 fixture. Who knows maybe I'll find a T17 fixture somewhere and finally have a use for the holders. Razz
