Now it looks almost like an open bottom light. It needs a couple of those coated BT shaped halogens to imitate the BT MV lamps that would traditionally be in an open bottom fixture.
I really like those BT halogen lamps, but my parents say they're too expensive when compared to the few watts they save. Luckily, my dad doesn't use CFLs everywhere. Just in the bedrooms, kitchen, and dinning room. My room is an exception though. It has LED. After the holidays, I'm using my gift money to buy three Phillips LEDs for my room. I saw them at a funeral home and I thought the lights had incandescents until i looked up and saw Phillips LED lamps! So, I'll definetly buy those for my room and my little brother can have the Utilitech LEDs that are currently in my room. I kinda prefer the cooler light of the Utilitech LEDs over the incandescents though... I've noticed a very slight dimming over the year or so of operation. It's still more light than the 13w CFLs in ym brother's room.
They still sell those brands. On top of that, I think they sell Feit and one more minor brand that I don't remember.... I got that SLI F40T12/DX lamp from Benny's. (Now that lamp and the fixture are in my grandpa's basement and used to see over the basement sink.)
