Nice! A first generation one too! Has the door vents and the decorative ridge on the top housing like the M-400As had. I believe 1992 was the year they got rid of these features and also switched from the 2-bolt rocker fitter to the 4-bolt fitter.
Mike, the 4 bolt plate actually started with the M250A2 in the early 80s and carried over into this product line. Also it was 1988 when GE revamped the housing on the M400s at that time. I've seen installations as early as that with the smooth housing.
Yep I was aware of the 4-bolt fitter on the M-150/M-250A2 and M-250R2; was referring only to the M-400 line. Thanks for correcting me on the year though. Didn't realize they had switched the M-400R2/A2 design that early! So the original design was only made for three years?
I think that's what the M-250A2 was orignally called since it only supported up to 150w HPS. I believe the name was changed to M-250A2 after GE modified the design to accept 250w lamps.
Yeah I have a GE catalog from April 1985 that says in fine print "*Formerly M-150" under the title for the M-250A2 page. The M-150 is identical to the very first M-250A2s, with the boxy top housing and boxy front. In 1987/1988 I believe they rounded off the top of the light but kept the same refractor door. I have one from 1987 that is still the original boxy shape. Then sometime in the very late 90s or early 2000s they switched to the current round-nose version. I don't know the year that happened though perhaps NiMo might.
