Picked up these goodies today! The Hockey rink that my father in law manages were replacing their parking lot lights to LED and I was able to go and look at the oldies. The M-400's have been retrofitted to MH and the A3 is original gear. The electrician removing the A3 cut the connector to the power door but enough wire was left so I can splice it Back on. All these fixtures are wired 240 volts. I plan on getting more photos of these in the coming days.

I couldn't believe it when I got the Photo from my father in law lol. There are 5 More M-400's, 2 missing the lens and another A3.

Awesome! Interesting that these have the old style hinge keeper. With the M-250Rs they redesigned it in 1965 to a simple sheet metal strip. A lot of soot on these guys. Pretty common for 60s GE fixtures for whatever reason lol. Maybe it doesn't show on the Westys as much because they were silver...

I see they both have the deep glass too. Cool The deep glass was more common anyway (and looks better!). My NOS M-400 split door has the shallow glass.

I want one. You shouldn't have said that there are more Laughing

These need a major cleaning. 50+ years of grime really builds up. Laughing I have a power washer that works wonders on cleaning these.

Nice find! Yeah the power washer should clean these right up.

Thanks Joe, I got the A3 fixed earlier today and working like a charm.

These are nice! You don't be happening to be giving away some of the M-400's are you? If you are able to get the other ones, I have been wanting one of the M-400's for a while. But. xD

But these look awesome! Why were the M400's wired to Metal Halide?
streetlight98   [Mar 11, 2017 at 02:54 PM]
The M-400s were retrofitted to MH while in service. Probably for more light output and whiter light. Would have made more sense to go PSMH but these were probably retrofitted years ago when PSMH ballasts were still insanely expensive (the 250W-1000W PSMH ballasts still are pretty expensive).

BTW I found the place on Google Streetview. Very Happy Apparently the two M-400s with the missing glass were missing the glass long before they were removed. My guess is their reflectors were probably tarnished. I find it odd how they concentrated the four poles right near each other in the center of the lot. The center of the lot is probably very nicely lit while the rest of the lot would be dark at night.

One of the fixtures that was missing glass also had a smashed up lamp in it to. That one I think isn't worth saving since that was the most beat up. The reflectors were also tarnished but I think a little scotch brite should bring back the shine.
