Are you sure they weren't going to reuse these? Sounds to me that the pole was taken down and not knocked down, as the fixtures would not survive the impact of falling from 30ft in the air. Did you at least try to get permission? I just hope you don't get caught "rescuing" street lights as i call it lol.

No they were going to throw them away / I was there when they took them down the utility worker just gave them to me ..

@ GMAN1214: wow you have some generous utility workers where you live! Here they'd never let any lights slip away from them. And they don't even reuse them. The company just wants all the scrap revenue they can get.

I'm speaking from experience about what goes on here, that's all. I'm sure it's different in different places but when the lights survive, that means the pole was taken down and not knocked down, so in the event of that, there is a slight possibility that the lights were being reused. Apparently this was not the case. No disrespect here.

Nice lights! Since it was removed for construction the lights might have been removed by a private contractor instead of the city who might be more lenient about giving away old lights to collectors.

Thats right I thank they were a contractor Company / Mike I no you were not being disrespectful , there is nothing wrong with being curious , But I new this guy at the time that worked for the utility company he was cool enough to give me must of my lights i have lol its to bad I dont see him around inymore .. The lamps I have I have had for a long time , Im glad I found this site to show them off
