Oh an OVF? Nice! does it have a PC socket? I think that 4 in the model number means it does... Was it just this one? Unpainted I'm assuming? (the U in the model number?) Nice addition! Now you need an 8ft Ontario Style tapered elliptical arm and a steel pole.
Indeed Man, you know your model numbers lol, you're right on both parts. I suppose I could make it a MTO style light with a steel pole or a city style light with a concrete pole xP.
I'm not great with Cooper model numbers since they use some keys that are totally different from what they represent, but AEL and GE catalog numbers I pretty much know by heart. If you don't mind me asking, how much did this cost at the ReStore? Did they have any others? I'd love to get a cobrahead in the sealed box. I'm really out of space, but an OVF is slim enough to tuck away somewhere lol. How big is the box?
Ahh this was 70 bucks at the Restore which wasn't that bad since these things cost 200-300 new. They had a second one but the box was more beat up than the one I got. The other one was also 400w HPS. The box is around 32X18X12.
Ah $70 is reasonable I guess but a little more than I'd be willing to spend on a modern light. What gets me is that the ReStore gets all of their inventory for free, so why do they have to charge so much? Seems to me that a fluorescent fixture should go for about $5, $10 if new. Lamps should be 25 cents to 50 cents each, $1 if new. HID fixtures should be maybe $20-$25 at the most. If the ReStore had to pay to get some of this stuff then I'd understand but the "junk" they sell has no value to them so why hike the price so much? Normally, if a store sells something for $100, some 80% of that goes to pay for the item and the extra $20 is profit, whereas the ReStore, the entire $100 is the profit so something that sells for $100 at a regular store should only sell for $20 (or whatever the % of profit normally is). That's just my opinion anyway...
I think CWA ballasts would be cheapest for a 400W HPS since they're probably the most common option but I think it would be cool to have a reactance ballast with no capacitor. Ah yeah that's a pretty slim box. I'm assuming it was rectangular? I know the 115 boxes are a uniquely shaped like a wedge with the point cut off. That way they can make the box smaller.
Yeah 70 is a pretty good price, unless they over charge significantly (like say more than 60% of what the going rate for an item is) I'm not that bothered by my Restore's prices since they don't have tax on stuff they sell here. Tax is 13% here so it does add up lol.
Yeah this one uses a CWA ballast too. It's slightly wider than my other 400w ballast for some reason. I suppose if they made a 240v or a 277v single tap fixture, they could use a reactor ballast. I know some PSMH highbays are like that.
Yeah, Cooper uses a rectangular box instead of the wedge shaped box used on the 115. The light itself is pretty thin, around 6-7 inches tall. I suppose the res of the box is to house the drop lens since the OVD uses the same box.

I looked around and it seems like 200 is the going price for a medium sized cobra here so it's a pretty reasonable price.
