1950s DHO Poles

During the 1950s the DHO (the predecessor to MTO) used fairly short square concrete poles and double guy arms. The original fixtures used on these poles were usually remote ballasted MV clamshells. As you can see the original fixtures are long gone now having been replaced by these AE 113s.
Note the capped off pole, I guess that's where the ballast used to be mounted. That's a bit of a odd setup as usually the ballasts on the concrete poles were mounted to the side of the pole instead of on top. Metal poles had top mounted ballasts though. Another thing I found interesting are the taped up PCs. I supposed they're relay switched and whoever put the light up ran out of shorting caps.
