wow a slimline germicidal! its probably 36 IN long? although seeing the wattage is 39W makes me believe that it's 4ft just like the F48T12/slimline lamp which is also 39W
Yeah I've never seen a germicidal with the MV style seals before or slimline one. Most I've seen are either PL style or bipin. It's around 3ft long and I got the wattage from looking it up online. It also looks like the ballast for this is hard to find so I might use a F32T8 ballast to run it.
They run fine on regular F20 ballasts but they don't make fluorescent lamps in the F36T6 length so the only ballast for this length are designed for germicidal lamps.
They emit medium and short wave UV which is quite damaging at close range to both your eyes and skin. Some can also emit ozone which is a strong oxidizer, in large quantities it can be bad for you. Ozone also damages rubber parts.
does that mean that germidical lamps would yellow polycarbonate right before your eyes? in all seriousness, these lamps sound kinda scarey! what are they used for?
ahh i see. so apparently they kill skin cells too? I noticed at both my middle and high schools there are these lamps in preheat strip lights for the science beakers and safety googles. They're not used though.
