An A Shaped SBMH Lamp :shock:

Found this interesting self-ballasted CMH lamp from Philips linked to on an L-G post.

They remind me of a modern version of the GE Halarc First Light from the 80s (anyone here have one?). Note that these are European spec lamps and are probably 240v only.

I wonder how much this is since I know Philips also makes SBMH PAR38s and they're not cheap so I guess this will be $$$$$ too.

Given the fact it have an electronic ballast. It's possible we might see them in America. Will cost a WHOLE lot of $$$$$$$ just the same in Europe or America I'll bet.

Yeah it'll probably cost more than even those LED lamps.

Those Philips SBMH PR38s are nice but expensive.  I totally lucked out about a year ago.  There is a commercial surplus place here in town that sells all kinds of overstock.  They had the Philips 25w SBMH PAR38s in both spot and flood for about $8 each!  That is about 1/10th of the usual retail price.  I bought only 3 because I don't have much use for them around the house.  They can't be used outdoors in uncovered fixtures.

I go to that store frequently and was surprised that someone did not snatch up all of them - perhaps a retail store owner - because they could save a ton of money on power use if they switched over from halogen PARs.  Even more than a year later, there were a few left.
