Title: GE probably launched a competitor to the CosmoWhite of Philips
Post by: dor123 on November 26, 2010, 07:26:17 AM
The new CMH lamps range of GE, called CMH StreetWise and have similar efficiency and CRI (Up to 111 lm/w and >70%) to the Philips CosmoWhite (Incorrectly called CosmoPolis White in the US and this wrong name even appears as a TM in the US Philips site, despite that Philips lighting Europe [Which is the original company] don't use this name at all).
However unlike the CosmoWhite which have a 2-pin base and can only be operated on a dedicated electronic ballast, the CMH StreetWise can be operated directly on both magnetic and electronic ballasts of HPS lamps (Since they're available in the usual 50W, 70W, 100W and 150W of HPS lamps), have just a regular screwbase and can even be dimmed on magnetic ballasts .
A disadvantage is that while the Philips CosmoWhite can be burned at any position, the GE CMH StreetWise are limited to horizontal burning position only.
