Hi, I have these (probably) default settings in my profile:
[X] - Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.
[ ] - Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.
For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of: [Moderation only if I started the topic]
I believe these settings are valid for forum/boards only. And the forum notifications work as expected.

On the other hand, notifications on comments to my pictures or to other members' pictures I've already commented to don't seem to work. For all the time I've been here, I've received only 5 picture comment notifications (3 on my own picture, 2 for other members' pictures).
All other comments to my pictures or replies to my comments on other members pictures have been without notifications. And I'm checking my spam folder periodically. ;)
Could this possibly be fixed?

Yes I rarely get gallery comment notifications, but I don't mind that since before the notifications used to be blank or in another language, so I just got into the habit of deleting all the GoL gallery notifications without reading them and just checking the comments section of the site daily (or whenever I get the chance). As for forum notifications, I shut them all off except for PMs.
I understand you want the notifications though, and I don't know how to fix that. Unfortunately Joe is the only admin that's regularly on the site (and he's quite busy with studies). I'm not an admin so I'm essentially powerless, but I'd PM Joe or one of the other admins (since they'll get an email notification for your PM and are more apt to respond whereas in this forum board, they won't know about your inquiry unless they come on the site).
Hopefully if you email a few of them at least one will reply with some answers.

Hi Mike, thanks for explaining. I can understand that. Debugging randomly nonfunctional notifications could be pretty time consuming (as a software developer I do know these random things are PITA) and I'm not going to bother him with PMs if he's busy with his studies.
I just wanted to prevent ignoring questions and comments on older uploads just because I don't know about them.

Hi all, yeah the site does have a problem with notifications in foreign languages and blank notifications at time. Oddly, the language the notification is tied to the gallery language setting of the user whose comment the email refers to. Not sure about the root cause of the blank and missing notifications though. Unfortunately the built in admin tools on the gallery portion of the site are quite limited in terms of debugging and features for that matter. I believe to properly debug the issue, I need access to the root of the site which only the site owner Ian (Lil'Cinnamon) has. He dosen't go on the site often but he might answer a PM.

Don't know if someone played with but looks like I'm receiving notifications now! At least for this picture (http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-19792). It's a good news, thanks! (If this was random, never mind.)
GoL was set to my browser preferred language (i.e. Czech) at the beginning but I switched it to English as the Czech translation is a bit funny. :P

The way notifications seem to work for me (on my own pictures) is:
If people post comments, I don't get them....until I have posted a comment myself (then after that I get any following comments)
Its like it doesn't auto-subscribe you to your own pictures the way other sites do.
