Title: New Lighting Pictures Board!
Post by: joe_347V on June 17, 2013, 01:11:10 AM
Welcome to the temporary lighting pictures board. Until the uploading issue on the site is fixed, start a thread here with and post a link to your pics or embed the pics in the thread.

How to post: Hope this stuff helps.

Using a Image Host:

1. Go to imgur.com (http://imgur.com/) or any other image host ( IE: flickr, Photobucket, Imageshack, ..etc) you prefer. The instructions here are geared towards imgur but other hosts should have a similar interface.

2. Click the "Upload from Your Computer" button on the right hand side.

3. Using the dialog box to browse for the pic on your computer like how you would normally do to upload to here.

4. Wait for the picture to upload

5. When the picture is uploaded, select the URL in the BBcode box on the right hand site and copy it. If you don't see boxes with URLs on the right click the Get embed codes link on the lower right of the page. Make sure to add width=700 in the {IMG} on the left, one space after the G.

6.There is also a deletion link on the lower right when you first upload the pic. Email it yourself or copy it down if you want. That link is used only to delete the pic you just uploaded.

7. Start a thread here and paste the URL you just copied in the message box, Add a description and title if needed

8. Repeat as needed and hit post.

9. You should have posted your first pic, if it dosen't show make a post about it and I'll fix it for you.

For those who have a LG Account*:

1. Upload your pic on LG as usual.

2. Once your pic is uploaded, open you pic and right click it. A menu should pop up, select "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) "Copy" (MSIE) or "Copy Image URL" (Chrome).

3.Start a thread here and click the (http://www.disasterous.org/sanriovillage.com/galleryoflights/mb/Themes/classic/images/bbc/img.gif) button above the message box. Paste the URL (CTRL-V). The picture url should be enclosed by a img tag.

4. To link back to your LG pic, put the entire img tags and picture URL where the description would normally go when you post a link. The page URL is of course the one in the file information box on LG.

5. Add a description (Outside of the img tag) and title if needed

6. Repeat for each pic and hit post when you're done.

*This is known as Hotlinking and some website owners frown upon this practice so only do this if you're going to post on LG anyway and you're fairly active on LG what I mean with this is don't join LG just to hotlink pics back here.

Just to add a little note to Joe's instructions... To keep the subforum organized properly, one thread per user! (Or uploader more precisely) Eventually if one wants to split their pics in separate threads (say one for bulbs and another for fixtures) it could be doable.

Of course comments from other users are allowed within a user's topic.
