Today, I found an interesting article that you can read it at Phillips touts 12 watt LED bulb as incandescent replacement (http://www.tgdaily.com/general-sciences-features/49832-phillips-touts-12-watt-led-bulb-as-incandescent-replacement).

I actually saw those lamps myself......Sylvania actually makes something a bit different.....Same for GE which is more interesting looking!

Home Depot sells them for $40 now. They don't turn pink like dimmable CFLs and they do indeed dim very well, but 12.5W to put out output comparable to 60W is not that much better than $3 CFL and with rated life of 25,000hrs and CFLs these days having as much as 12,000 hrs, this is simply not economical.

I bought three 7.5 watt LEDs for $10 ea. at Lowe's and put them in my beroom light and they work great! They're as bright a 60 watt lamps.
