Title: TGDaily - Samsung brings 40,000-hour lightbulb to US

Another company develops new LED light bulb posted at Samsung brings 40,000-hour lightbulb to US (http://www.tgdaily.com/sustainability-brief/59799-samsung-brings-40000-hour-lightbulb-to-us).  I wonder how long would it last and lastly, how will the lumens maintenance would last. ???

I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly without some testing though.....

That's true, everything deserves at least one chance, but I'm sure not going to buy LEDs until they've been fully developed and the price comes WAY down. LEDs are still developing very fast and after a year of use, the LED lamp is "outdated" by a new LED technoledgy. :8)

This is a lie by Samsung, since the main failure mechanism of mains voltage LED lamps is "Ballast electronics"
The life of LED lamps strongly affected by the quality of the integrated driver.
In LED lamps, the driver is ALWAYS the first to fail.
The other criterions of the life of LED lamps (From the more important to the least one): heatseaking quality and the quality of the LEDs themselfs, are only little criterions compared to the driver quality.
LEDs have 50,000-100,000 hours (12 years of continuous operation), but the driver itself have only several years life (And in the extreme case, several months life if poorly designed).
