Look at what these morons/idiots/bafoons/stupid/dull/brainless/wittless freaks of nature are passing in Arizona. The reason I'm mad is because it's only going to spread to more states. >:(

"Dusk to Dawn residential lighting is usually a waste of energy, it is often of no benefit."
THat above statment can be any further from the truth. :P

Have there any reported of illegal yard blaster by the Republic of Arizona government? :P
-
Those people (Dark Sky People) should be arrested for menancing.

The way Arizona is going, it doesn't sound like a state of the United Sates of America. The USA is for indivisuals who want to be free. In my opinion, its unlawful that the DSA is feeding this incorrect information to the Arizonia politicians and the press. >:(

Careful with the threatening...it is unlawful to chop people's heads ;) :P ::)...and honestly what you are saying here is frowned on the Gallery Of Lights... :-[..according to the rules.....but I will let you go on that one. Just a simple warning and I know you are kinda joking...but a bit extreme though...
Also this group existed longer than you think....10 years before you were born....Arizona and New Mexico is the only 2 states I know that banned MV....Arizona is more strict, I have been there, but there was a surprising more mercs than I thought in the areas when I visited in late 2006, and they were already banning them.....
-
I really don't see how banning and enforcing a ban on a type of light source is feasible, if light pollution is that much of a problem then why don't they just ban the lume types that spray light everywhere. ???
-
Exactly! They should approve or disapprove light designs...because simply banning MV just makes things worse such as a METAL HALIDE BUCKET LIGHT AND HPS BUCKET LIGHT!
A dimmed out MV would actually use less light pollution than a BRIGHT CYCLING HPS!
They are just looking for weakness to make their goals more successful and just to be more hated! Good luck IDA!

I'll remove the foul content. :)

So glaring lights that spread light pollution are OK, as long as they are not mercury vapor. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
Around where I live, there are thousands of mercury vapor security lights and NEMAs in use. The hillsides are dotted with little white lights from them. However, the sky glow is not blue-green-white from them. It's gold from the thousands of high wattage HPS street and parking lot lights, many of which I think could be down-rated and still do an adequate job of lighting their areas.
-
In my area, the sky is more purplish....coated MV....looks more natural!
IDA doesn't want anything polluting and glare....that's reasonable...
Telling us not to use MV...now that's bull! In fact if MV was used.....a dimmed out merc would cause LESS pollution and glare....so they should have been happy....
I also was told that LPS are easiest to filter out for the astronomers....but they have been reducing the use of LPS...however I was told the CLEAR mercs are actually 2nd easiest to filter out...so Arizona should have been full of FCO clear mercs instead of HPS!
-
I agree the MV ban is ridiculous, HPS bucket lights are one of the biggest glare bombs, not MV ones.
Those IDA people need to get a life and whether they like it or not all outdoor lighting is not going to be outlawed like they want.
No one in their rights minds (including politicians) would listen to these goof balls.

Unfourtunatly, the DSA thinks that we are a bunch of idiots and that we will do whatever they say if they throw "going green" or "saving the environment" or "saving energy" into every sentence they say. Unfourtunatly for them, that's not true. :P
