Here's how it looked back in the 60s:

[Random useless fact]I believe the subway cars heading out of the yard in the 60s pic is the same model as the ones on the far right in my pic
(Hawker Siddeley H1).[/Random Useless Fact]

i'd say not much has really changed here. Shocked Do the OV25 remote ballast lights still work at night? Very Happy

Wow! There is hardly any difference!

Did YOU take the pic? So you were on top of the building on the far left in the 60s pic?.. Why not stand in exact same spot as the 60s pic? Nice catch by the way!
gailgrove   [Feb 02, 2012 at 08:55 PM]
Well he wouldn't of been standing ON the building, you can see here where he would of been standing.

Thanks, and yep I did this this pic and was standing on the grass that overlooked that yard.

@Mike yeah aside from the subway trains (which got replaced) almost everything is the still the same. I'm not sure of the OV 25 still works or not though.

@Jace, I'll see if I can get another pic since I might go back with a real camera instead of my phone.

Thanks, it looks like cell phone cameras have come a long way since the old 640X480 ones.

I recently came across a night shot of this taken in the late 60s.

I believe the mercs in the back were OV-25 flatbottoms, now replaced with HPS OV-25s.

Nice! Long live the OV-25 remote ballast fixtures! Very Happy

Yeah, I should go check to see if the OV-25 remotes still work. I'm surprised that they made them this late. The yard was built sometime in 1965.

Yeah I think they were made well into the 60s. I don't think remote ballast fixtures were made beyond the 60s though. After that they just made empty full sized cobraheads, though that's wwhat GE did all along i think, they didn't have a special remote ballast cobrahead.
