I guess the road was closed off at the time for construction since those signs in the corner along with the pole look really new. Those grooves in the concrete are known as tining and help to provide traction...although that's what contributes to that "TIE fighter" sound you hear when driving over it.
Concrete is big here. ON I-70 between Denver and the borderline of Kansas, I-70 is ALL concrete! Except for one small part.
The grooves make the noise if they are going horizontal on the road, going from the one side to the other. But the don't make the noise if they go vertical, going along with the lanes, like in this picture.
BTW, RIGHT behind me where I took this picture is where I found my first Model 25. This was the intersection where they took down that model 25 and are working on the road, so yes, the road was closed. But I parked the car far away so I walked quite a ways to this place. xD
I did find the yard for this project, they had some of the new Metal Halide Circular lights that are going around in these areas on the ground.
I went in the yard to find someone and ask them about if they had leftover streetlights.. But the person IN there was a jerk and threatened to call the cops for "walking on private property" >.> So I didn't get to see if they had any old lights. I bet this yard is out of the equation...

FIVE ...PERIOD!
