It's a drive-in fast food place. You drive into the bays. You then order food from the square things on the poles. Someone on old school skates will bring your food and drink. Some of these have a small exterior eating area where you can sit down if you walked into the place from somewhere. (I used to go there once in a while when I lived in NC. I miss the place though.)
Oh cool. Pardon my ignorance, but was this like the early days of fast food? I think Applebee's has something like this when they'll deliver your food o your car when it's ready or at least they did...
@Mike (streetlight98): That was before your time where the cars drive-in to the restaruant where hopper takes orders and deliver the food right by the door windows
I can remember back in the early 1970's where I went for Dogs n Suds for lunch.
I haven't been to a Sonic in forever...man I miss going around the country and stopping in at local Diners and Dives. Some of the best food I've ever had was at little Ma & Pa restaurants in the South.
