Ballast Boxes I thought these computer PSUs were different dimensions between computer and brand. Apparently they are the same dimension. I will use these for my 100w MV core type that I got from Jace and my 70w HPS core type ballast. What I need to use as a connector to the lamp? (I don't want to use lampholders on it cuz both 70w and 100w come in both mogul and medium base.) Keywords: Gear

I thought these computer PSUs were different dimensions between computer and brand. Apparently they are the same dimension.

Looks like my idea is spreading fast Cool Computer PSUs have standarized sizes BTW

Skinned, gutted, and cleaned them. Now they're ready to be used as soon I find the parts to make it happen.

Skinned - removed the labels.
Gutted - removed the PC board inside.
Cleaned - removed the dust bunnies inside.

Here's what I did: I reuse the supply connector for the ballast and I connected a wall-wart transformer (taken apart) to supply the fan.

actually the sizes are often standard sizes and screw holes in same places......however older computers may have some bigger ones....and some may be specialized power supply for specific computers. I know this as my other hobby was building computers and working with them...

i have an 85 Watt Non-ATX PSU from a Dell Computer made in Late 99...i proposed using it as a Ballast Box but the Power supply is still in good working order.
