So does Cooper technically no longer exist and was bought out by/changed their name to something else, like Philips bought out Westinghouse?

no the cooper name still exists. Eaton bought the entire Cooper Industries, not just Cooper Lighting

I checked their website and Cooper Lighting still exists as far as I know.
