Found this collection of scanned vintage GE lighting catalogues, including a nice spec sheet for the M250R.

Mike:
Wow awesome! :o :D

ZarlogH46:
Neato! I didn't know they made those recessed high bays in metal halide as early as 1973. There is a building at the MN state fair that has those fixtures in it. Most of them have /DX mercury vapor lamps in them but one has a clear lamp.

GE sure made some pretty cool stuff back in the day. It sure is a shame that they have gone to the dogs and only make LED stuff now.

Mike:
Yeah GE and Holophane both made some really cool HID fixtures in the past. They had some brilliant engineers. GE invented the HPS lamp. Not sure who invented the MH lamp though. And Holophane designed most glass optics for HID and incandescent lighting.

I found it interesting that by 1967, the M-400A was offered in MV, HPS, and MH. That's sadly more light sources than what the current M-400A3 is offered in. If you click to the main page, there's Holophane,  vintage Lithonia, and Sylvania lamp catalogues.
