 well check out this street light going to be getting a austrailan street light
well this is a 40 watt thorn flourescent street light that is on my way to USA

You may need a new ballast. I'm not sure if Austrailia has 120V 60Hz power...

New ballast. Australia has 240v 50hz.  :(

not to worry here ;D  I got home made inverter to power them up as i can dail in 20 hz to 400hz
to power a 240 volt 50hz to 12 volt transformer backward, so let be proud of my electronics skills.

I use my step up transformer from 120 volt to 265 volt 60 hz to closely equal the 230 volt 50 hz electrical characteristics on my UK LPS fixture I have.......I was told higher voltage will make out the 50 hz....
