Title: GE M-150
Post by: Antstar85 on August 07, 2011, 07:52:03 PM
Ok so I was doing some reading today and saw something about GE putting out a fixture called the M-150. They said it was released in the early 80's along with the M-250A. Now is this the really old light that looks like the current M-250A2 or was this a fixture that was rare?

The M-150 was the boxy version of the Current M-250A2. The boxiest one was the M-150, the boxy ones was the 1st generation M-250A2, and the more rounded one made todat is the 2nd generation M-250A2. I personally have never seen the M-150 name used by GE, I've only seen the M-250A2, but I've heard the name used. Can you post the article? The fixture may be rare, but it looks almost identical to the 1st gen M-250A2, so it's hard to say.

There are a bunch of the older lights up here in Holyoke but thought the were he 1st gen M-250A2. They are much boxier than the other squared fixtures. I'll get some photos of the lights and post them later. For the article, just go to Wikipedia and check out the streetlighting in the united states page.

oh, that can be edited by anyone, i wouldn't trust it. Like I said, I've heard the name, but i've never seen an article by GE saying it. Sometimes model numbers are made up here to help with identifing them. (EX: The M-400R3 and M-400A3 is really the M-400 and M-400A. The M-250R1 is really the M-250R) Hop this helps.

So the way I'm seeing it that there are actually 3 generations of m-250a2 lights because the second gen boxy light still had a square front but rounded top and with the earlier one both top and front were squared and the third generation one has both a rounded top and front.

You could say that. The "M-150" wasn't avavliable in 250w. Only 50-150w HPS. Not in MV either, just HPS. It was the first to have the plug-in igitor.
