Title: Any experts on Westinghouse ballasts?
Post by: Mike on August 04, 2011, 02:52:18 PM
I was wondering if putting red spray paint on the ballast to immitate the old varnish would be OK or if it would harm it. I want to make the ballast look like new. any tips would be helpful.

I've seen red insulating varnish that's for use on transformers and motors for sale at electronic parts places.

Not sure if you can/should use spray paint though.

If you want to revarnish the windings of the transformer, spray paint will only cover the outside, and not penetrate through all the windings, so if it was a short that you were trying to fix, maybe re winding it or getting another would be a better option, but if you just want to paint the outside, spray paint should be fine.

Please do not use the word "URGENT" it was not really neccessary, you are just going to make people start ignoring those messages because some people use those words just for "Attention" Only use the word if it is REALLY an emergency.

Thank you

Sorry. I won't use it anymore. Well, I guess I'm safe with using spray paint to paint the ballasy?
