Title: Traffic Signal Animations
Post by: basilicon89 on January 29, 2011, 01:37:11 AM
Heres a few of the many animations I've done. Rendered using MS Paint/GIMP and Microsoft GIF animator.

Great Examples!  :D

Eagle DuraSig Five-Section Flashing Yellow Arrow, that's an interesting one! I have never seen such a thing like that...and often if that dog house was found on left lane the arrows are on the left side, but if it was on the right lane and arrow was to turn right, it tend to be on the right side of the traffic light feature.

Great job on the animations, you also seem to be a good artist on very specific details using the paint brush, the open source program of GIMP (which I also use) and the Microsoft GIF Animator (a really OLD OLD Windows 95 program!) I also use my Macintosh (which finally I am getting fixed for FREE OH JOY OH JOY!)

Cool man!

Thanks! I have a few more scattered animations on my computer, I might post in the future.

The 5-section version of the Flashing Yellow Arrow signal was tried has been banned from use because of several reasons. One of which is you cannot have a yellow ball terminating in a left turn display. It also requires two overlaps in the cabinet instead of one. The four section version only needs one overlap.

Here's another I found:
This animation is renderings of Eagle Mark IVs. They cycle about 6 times before going into standard Flash. After a brief flash the signals come back online according to MUTCD guidelines.
