Title: Looking for a good 20W preheat ballast? Check this out!
Post by: Vince on September 20, 2010, 08:12:53 PM
You've probably seen all those "Frost" ballasts I got over the months.  Here's an eBay listing  (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ATC-Frost-118v-60Hz-0-36a-13-22w-Ballast-FBAK10-05-/220558961597?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item335a56abbd) for a newer "ATC-Frost" FBAK-10-05 preheat ballast.

Here's a picture of the label:

This model is technically identical to this Frost FBAK-12 I own:

The ballasts listed on eBay have "06.12.04", which I guess is the date code (Dec. 6, 2004), pretty recent but preheat chokes are really reliable, and the listing says there are 64 of these available! Kind of expensive though...

I have about a half dozen in a box in the shop.  I think they are Advance brand.  Three or four are never used and have spade terminals rather than leads.  If anyone wants one for a project, forget eBay.  Send me a PM and you can have one for the cost of postage.
