Post by: Form109 on June 07, 2010, 03:26:22 PM

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Dallas,+Texas&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=30.957823,86.572266&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FYuI9AEdfWg7-g&split=0&hq=&hnear=Dallas,+Texas&ll=32.768512,-96.825943&spn=0.064089,0.169086&t=h&z=13&layer=c&cbll=32.768435,-96.826052&panoid=0znvoN67_gYzqU2evGlZag&cbp=12,103.47,,0,-12.82

Here is one I found at Martin Luther King Jr Dr and Rockmart Rd, Atlanta, GA.

The streetview does not do justice old style hanging HPS light right at the intersection.  It is blinded by the sun itself.  But, if you see in between intersection, you will see in between the street intersection.

I can see it as birdview mode at Bing Maps as well...

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=martin+luther+king+jr+dr+and+rockmart+rd,+atlanta,+ga&sll=33.753532,-84.428878&sspn=0.001195,0.001719&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Martin+Luther+King+Jr+Dr+SW+%26+Rockmart+Dr+SW,+Atlanta,+Fulton,+Georgia+30314&ll=33.75355,-84.428773&spn=0.009491,0.013754&t=h&z=16

Here is one the original gas station that is no longer there at the aerial view, but the street view still have the older picture at:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Roswell+Rd+%26+Dalrymple+Rd+NE,+Sandy+Springs,+Fulton,+Georgia+30328&sll=33.757646,-84.378746&sspn=0.000598,0.00086&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FQAeBgId07L4-g&split=0&hq=&hnear=Roswell+Rd+%26+Dalrymple+Rd+NE,+Sandy+Springs,+Fulton,+Georgia+30328&ll=33.955179,-84.364647&spn=0.002385,0.003439&t=h&z=18

As it appears that I took picture at Gas Station Fluorescent Fixture (http://www.lighting-gallery.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-33957).

This is a pretty cool idea since streetview shows the scenery surrounding the light which in my opinion, is more interesting than just a picture of a streetlight.

Anyways here's some I have of the Toronto area.

Fluorescent underpass lights with powergrooves in them (http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=43.730329,-79.449391&spn=0,0.027294&z=16&layer=c&cbll=43.730333,-79.449395&panoid=VD1H3ulBxgF46akpzJJrxg&cbp=12,62.19,,1,-19.13)

Fluorescent streetlights along a rural road (there's more but you need to move the camera around) (http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=44.101701,-79.441109&spn=0,0.109177&z=14&layer=c&cbll=44.101625,-79.441047&panoid=oVpVcFlidnxQd_tZ5Tqcsw&cbp=12,173.58,,0,-5.14)

"Fishhead" streetlight fixtures on Pape Ave. (http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=43.693188,-79.350252&spn=0,0.003412&z=19&layer=c&cbll=43.693035,-79.350192&panoid=K45sqNJh40u9QxN2yLB0TQ&cbp=12,174.42,,1,-12.1)

Also on Pape Ave. what appears to be a Westinghouse OV14b (http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=43.694646,-79.35085&spn=0,0.003412&z=19&layer=c&cbll=43.694541,-79.350811&panoid=ukuUl-bQsRpJN4R9VXK4MA&cbp=12,304.09,,2,-28.57)

yes sir! I saw a 2nd one too just down the road turning right...also past that one theres one dayburner in HPS in unknown fixture

I actually know of one OV-15 (or similar) in Netherlands.....it was exactly a shape of OV-15...EXCEPT one thing...the refractor was shape of a OV-10 and OV-12.....which means Westinghouse continued the older style Westinghouse refractor since Netherlands did not use the NEMA code for smaller refractors....

I have seen this one in person...funny thing I was talking to someone about it last night! I remember seeing this one as I go to Aldi and Amazing savings which was down the road......I have always thought this was weird being in middle of parking lot!!!!!!!!!! I remember seeing some cyclers on that mast! Does it still light up as of today? or has it been shut off?   Also just a bit farther East...there is a GE Acre light on a parking lot but I believe it is out of service though...

Thanks magslight, I agree the LPS spanwire lights do look a lot more european than most of the streetlights here.  As for the incandescent lights I haven't seen any around here since Toronto retrofitted theirs in the mid '90s to MH lamps.

My guess for the gumball one here...looks like a bigger version of McGraw Edision of what I have? But again it looks very similar to a Westinghouse cuplight, but this one is stamped cast...

Hmm it does looks like to bigger version of yours but they look like they're small than the regular size gumballs that Toronto uses, anyways I'll try if I can get a close up pic the next time I'm in that area. Btw, the fixture is remote ballasted low wattage MV.

Here's some more streetview scenes I have:

Crouse Hinds Art Deco wig wag flasher? (http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=42.905567,-79.630022&spn=0.011222,0.019119&z=16&layer=c&cbll=42.905514,-79.629927&panoid=tRtgQuIFVxNqowWjh3bHEQ&cbp=12,333.08,,2,-18.03)

If you guys want a ton of fun......

Go Downtown Frederick....start  here  (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Frederick+MD&aq=&sll=42.90552,-79.629958&sspn=0.010735,0.01929&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Frederick,+Maryland,+United+States&ll=39.415209,-77.434516&spn=0.010179,0.038581&z=15&layer=c&cbll=39.415206,-77.434577&panoid=mjVMawY6XLkaz1W_9tdetA&cbp=11,140.41,,0,-8.62)

Start where you are facing...go straight, and as you approach a Y shaped intersection...go right and be sure to go as many roads as possible in Down town Frederick. Be sure to visit main downtown roads such as South Street, East Street, Southern part of South Market Street and Northern part of North market street, most of the Patrick Street.

On E. Patrick Street, near North Market street...be sure to peek the walk in allies...there are some old old fixtures on the buildings. Let me know if you find them (there's a few allies with those!) and if you find them, tell me what they are and when you do, I will post pics of them that I already have! (hint as it's a bit hard to find..but look at the dark allies, you may see the first fixtures (and they are clamshell type, but can you find out what they are?

On E. Patrick Street turn around when you reach intersection of Monocacy Bvld. and go elsewhere for more goodies, suggestion, go to North East St and turn to East Church Street until you reach 5th st, turn back...

Be sure to visit Motter Ave., N. Bentz Street, 9th street

Dill Ave has a lot of older posttops (They are General Electrics by the way from what I saw on the cast iron poles!) Those are retrofitted with HPS though...used to be incandescent!

Recommended to visit South Jefferson St.

There are a lot more places I can't name or count, there's some neighborhoods with gumballs on the same style arms.......there's some roads I wanted to show but sadly doesn't have street view....but be sure to cover a lot of the DOWNTOWN Fredrick....spend hours on streetview in Frederick is a possibility

They are powered by Allegheny Power under Frederick Public Works! Most are already retrofitted with HPS lamps with MV ballasts or has remote HPS.....They are mostly connected in series not parallel!

Try to name all the clamshells (and cobraheads) you have seen on this nice ride!

some more nice examples joe....and that does look like a Form 400....just one of those canadian ones which appear Cast verses american stamped ones....i cant quite figure out why there's such a diffrence but the canadian ones should definetly be rarer than the american ones.

i gotta wonder how long some of these streetviews will stay up....since google will phase out the Low Res Streetviews in favor of the Higher Res HD-Type Views.

Thanks Devonte, it seems some rural parts on Ontario still have some older lumes in use. The streetviews for Canada should stay up for longer since they were only taken in mid to late '09.

I was on my way to see my doctor at the other day and I found two line hanging streetlights at Cobb Pkwy & Dobbs Dr NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Dobbs+drive,+NW+and+Cobb+parkway,+kennesaw,+ga&hl=en&ll=34.017852,-84.618248&spn=0.000002,0.001418&sll=34.017852,-84.618248&sspn=0.000718,0.001418&t=h&hnear=Cobb+Pkwy+%26+Dobbs+Dr+NW,+Kennesaw,+Cobb,+Georgia+30144&z=20&layer=c&cbll=34.017852,-84.618248&panoid=xYWJ93wTRnljcqSAyUgg_w&cbp=13,5.27,,0,-40.65) :o
