it would be more disturbing if you were diagnosed with mercury poisoning....this thing is to dispose of lamps that are already dead and not get poisoned by mercury and to recycle also...

I don't believe it does not release mercury and other nasty stuff to the atmosphere around.
I think such device would not be legal in Europe, mainly due to stuff above.
And moreover for really reusing materials from dead tube mixing everything together is the worst you might do. When the lamp is not physically broken, selective cutting and washing would be able to separate materials for their future cleaning and use in new lamps way simpler, so cheaper and more efficient (with less unusable toxic waste)...

I think it do suck the nasty mercury vapor as I saw the lid collapse slightly when the guy inserted the lamps. Weird machine and PRICEY! Over $3000 minus the barrel. Ouch!

It suck the air from the barrel, but where you think the air then go? They claim "mercury filters", but what about the mercury vapor (in normal room temperature it exceed safe concentration more then ten times)? Filters are able to catch only non-gaseous substances, so only dust and droplets, but the vapor might pass very easily. Moreover mercury gas, even if heavy, has quite small particles - they are single atoms, so about the same size as O2 or N2 molecules, so there is no filter capable to catch them from the air (except cold condensation traps, but i didn't noticed these machines having chiller machinery necessary for such functionality)...

Like I said.... "it would be EVEN more disturbing if you were diagnosed with mercury poisoning....this thing is to dispose of lamps that are already dead and not get poisoned by mercury and to recycle also......those aren't to destroy working lamps....but to dispose anything spent....
