Title: How to tell when an HID light is about to fail

If you look at the ballast and one of the coils is black, that's a pretty good indication that it is about to go bad. I bought a Line Materials Unistyle 175 street light just recently. It still works, but it has the same problem and because of that, I won't put it back into service anytime soon and newer ballasts will not fit.

My Unistyle has a replacement 175W MH/MV ballast that fits fine. Just have to use the mounting brackets that come with it or modify them to fit right.
