Title: The Word Game IV: Verb Association!
Post by: GEsoftwhite100watts on February 08, 2015, 01:12:23 PM
I've had this idea for a few days now.  Like "Word Association" except with verbs, for example:

Poster #1: Pacing
Poster #2: Taking on the phone
Poster #1 or #3: Texting and driving
And so on...

Ah interesting! A more specific version of my game lol. I didn't see this until now. I've kinda been rushing the Forum Games lately since I've been busy with other stuff. Right now I'm restoring a wooden stool for my biology teacher. The seat had cracked in half so me and a friend fabricated a new seat and now I have sanded down the original legs and dowels and tonight I applied the first coat of Minwax red oak stain. Then comes the multiple coats of polyurethane lol.

So, PAINTING! lol

sifting through all the stations and every single one has a commercial. Then you find some station playing a crappy song but it's better than commercials so you put it on.

When I drive alone I bring my phone and an AUX cable and play music off my phone's library. Commercial-free and I like every song. I don't do that with my parents in the car. for some reason I feel uncomfortable listening to "my music" around them. They listen to rock too but they probably wouldn't appreciate the heavier stuff I have lol.

I'm not gonna lie, I had a pretty good "laugh attack" reading that...it's so true! What song do you picture? (For whatever reason Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" instantly comes to mind, even though I LIKE that song!)
And I'm guessing you do what everyone else does at that point and turns it up ridiculously loud? Or do you roll your eyes at those cars when sitting at a red light?

Anyway...
Driving out of the range of a radio station, hearing it subside to static, and flipping through a pretty empty FM dial (rural area) with nothing but NPR, country, and K-love Christian repeaters.

Post by: Mike on February 26, 2015, 04:06:29 PM
Not ridiculously loud, but I do listen to it sorta loud. I don't have a huge bass though so it's not that irritating BRUMMMMP-BRU-BRU-BRUMMMP or anything. Rock and metal is more balanced treble and bass so it's not irritating like rap or pop lol. I don't like people to have their music loud enough where I can hear it. I can only imagine how loud it is inside the car when you can hear it outside the car.

* * *

At this point the radio is shut off and since I don't have my phone & AUX cable, I just drive silently.

Someone told me yesterday their husband, who's a very courteous driver, got flipped off umpteen times by cars behind them while driving them out of the Boston airport because they'd slow down to let others merge onto the freeway! (Another reason I consider owning one of THOSE vehicles)

Merging onto the freeway in a small economy car (Geo, etc)

Post by: Mike on March 01, 2015, 08:45:15 PM
No you shouldn't slow down. You should either speed up to go by the people merging on or move over into the next lane to the left. That's what I always do. Slowing down on a freeway is never a great idea because the person behind you might not be paying attention and hit you and besides, it just screws up the flow of traffic. I've been told New Englanders aren't as friendly as people in other parts of the country though lol. I personally think it's the east coast in general. You go out "westward" (like to Ontario or Michigan for example) everyone is so kind. I'm sure there's a few bad apples no matter where you go but there's no "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" feel in New England lol. People tend to keep to themselves and are less likely to say hi to a stranger and what not. I tend to avoid talking to people I don't know too. I'm sorta antisocial, though you wouldn't know that from the essay-length posts I make here lol. Speaking of essays, I gotta write a history essay due Tuesday on McCarthyism (1950s Communist scare).
