Title: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: GEsoftwhite100watts on September 23, 2014, 10:45:23 PM
I had this idea for some time now but decided to finally post it...
You guess the song based on the trivia posted, for example...
Player 1: This song by Billy Joel starts with the sound of glass shattering
Player 2: You may be Right...which song by Queensryche mentions an AK-47?
Player 1 or 3: Empire....Which song by Pink Floyd is filled with glass shattering sounds and strange voices?
And so on...
Alright, so...
Radio-edit versions of this popular Nickelback song have the word "Drug" bleeped out, making the song's chorus sound awkward:

Hmm interesting. 8)

Rockstar by Nickelback? They don't bleep out "drugs" on my local radio station. Censoring "drugs" is pretty rediculous lol. Although here they allow words that I don't agree should be allowed.

This Metallica song starts with trumpts in the intro, which is actually taken from a western movie and played in reverse.

No idea.  I heard that Nickeback butchering job on a commerical radio station in Seattle.
This song by the Smiths is very long and somewhat repetitive...

This was (and might still be) the theme song of that TV show "Deadliest Catch":

It's worth a laugh IMO now and then.  Having worked on commercial fishing vessels I love watching other people doing much worse jobs be stupid on camera.

If it's not School's Out by Alice Cooper I will challenge that...
This song starts out with machine gun sounds:

LOL yep it is Alice Cooper's School's Out. ;D

Hmm machine gun sounds? I have a feeling it's by Disturbed but I don't know the song aff hand. I think it's Indestructable?

Nah that song has air raid/tornado siren sounds...it was One by Metallica.
This song  by the Who is commonly mis-titled by the chrous and the real name appears nowhere in the song that I'm aware of.  Hint Mike: you pointed that out to me originally I think
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: Mike on October 13, 2014, 06:47:52 PM
Oh yeah One does start with machine guns. On the radio they skip right to the guitar intro.

Ah Teenage- I mean- Baba O'Reilly. :P ;D

This bands only widely-known song is called Drive, often mistaken as "Whatever tomorrow brings", because of the chorus (whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, with open arms and open eyes, yeah) but their one of my favorite bands and I listen to them all the time.

Incubus!
This song by them is one of my favorites...it sounds nothing like "Drive"

Is it Pardon Me? That's one of their others hits. Or Anna Molly? I love their SCIENCE album and also like Make Yourself, Morning View, and Light Genades. Don't care much for their newest album "If not now, When?" though. It's amazing how different each album is from each other though, usually all band's songs sound similar.

My favorite songs besides the SCIENCE album are probably Wish You Were Here, Pardon Me, Deep inside, Echo, Stellar, Anna Molly, and Warning.

Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted

Don't know the first or third but I think the 2nd light be Jeremy by Pearl Jam? I'm not too good with this lol. I'm king of misheard lyrics, I usually have to look them up online to find out what they actually are lol. I don't know when Linkin' Park had its hits so don't know that one either. No clue what the first is. Never heard a song like that lol.

This popular metal band is frequently abbriviated as "A7X".

Yeah, Jeremy by Pearl Jam.  3rd was "Numb" and the 1st was "bad moon on the rise" by Creedence Clearwater
This song by a 90s group whose lead singer committed suicide by shooting himself mentions not having a gun:
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: Mike on January 10, 2015, 05:55:28 PM
Ah, as it turns out, I actually knew all three of those songs, I'm just bad with trivia lol.

Well, I do know this one, Nirvana. Yeah, I always found that song ironic.

The lead singer of this popular 70s and 80s rock band committed suicide too. The band was named after a city in the New England area.

I'm going to guess Boston? I didn't know the lead singer comitted suicide though.
This song has what I think are space shuttle liftoff? sounds at the beginning, during the song, and at the end.
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted

Yep Brad Delp committed suicide on March 9, 2007 at age 55. He had placed two charcoal grills in his sealed master bedroom and died of carbon monoxide poisioning.  His last interview was two days before his death  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA5Zg56vJI4) and he seemed perfectly fine! The reasoning behind his suicide remains a mystery. Boston is one of my favorite older rock bands. ;D

Hmm I don't know. I might know the song but I need more of a hint than that lol.

Rocket Man!
When this popular Dire Straits song is played on the radio, I always wonder if it'll be the version with a certain dirty word:
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: Mike on January 18, 2015, 10:06:59 PM
Oh... Yeah... I know that song... lol

Ah Money for Nothin'. 8) LOL I don't think it's a swear word but yeah some stations bleep it out and others don't... One thing I find strange about radio censoring is thay with the word @$$hole, they will bleep out the "hole" part but not the @$$ part. And @$$ when said alone isn't censored at all. Since when is "hole" a bad word? lol
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: GEsoftwhite100watts on January 18, 2015, 11:28:39 PM
Best one I've heard butchered on the radio was Nickelback's 'Rockstar'...they cut out the word "drug" making it sound really awkward since it's in the chorus!
This song has also been commonly misinterpreted as having "wrapped up like a (dirty word)" when it's actually "Revved up like a Deuce"
Title: Re: Guess the song by the trivia posted
Post by: Mike on January 19, 2015, 12:11:56 PM
Ah that one's Blinded by the Light (how ironic for you to use that on this forum lol). I honestly always though it was wrapped up like a do---e lol.

This band is wel-known for their song "Drive" but is otherwise relatively unknown. Everyone knows their song Drive but nobody knows who the band is lol. They happen to be one of my favorite bands too.

Rhianna and "Civil War" by Guns & Roses.
I think I know the song but I'm not 100% positive.  "She's not there"? is the line of the song I'm thinking of though I don't think it's BTO honestly.
This song by Peter Gabriel (Which is actually playing right now) talks about living large:

"And She looked at me with them big brown eyes and said 'You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet' " (which is the name of the song)

Is it Big Time?

This artist wants you to "Show Me the Way". ;D

Is it that one song by America whose chorus is something to the effect of: You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name (or is it mane?)/ it felt good to be out of the rain/in the desert/you can't remember your name/cause there aint no none there to give you no pain

This song by a group whose name is what you'd be doing going toward a sunrise talks about someone watching someone else, or at leasts that's what I gain from it.  I also woke up at 4AM with it stuck in my head...

Head East-Never Been any Reason.  Saying "Oh duh" to yourseld now?  ;D
This song by Talking Heads is made up of totally random lyrics.

Yeah that's the meaning but in a literal sense it talks about saying good-bye to a pie lol.

Dunno. I only know one song by the talking heads (Burnin' Down the House)

This song is the most popular acoustic song by Kansas:

I'm really not sure but for some reason Living Color's "Cult of Personality" comes to mind.  I have some other mandogreens I'll mention in the "off" topic.
This song talks about not wanting to be a burden on the singer's significant other:

It does ring a bell but for whatever reason I'd always assumed it was a car! (Not that I'm that familiar with car models anyway!).
Mine was Beast of Burden by the Rolling Stones.

This Simon & Garfunkel song has a CRASH sound during the chorus, which was actually inspired by a door slamming in the recording studio building's showing up on the recording.
