Title: Streetview now has old imagery
Post by: joe_347V on April 26, 2014, 12:34:51 AM
Not if you guys heard this or not but Google recently updated Streetview to let you pick which set of pictures to use. Using this, you can now spot changeouts and older lights that were removed easily.

Using this (https://www.google.ca/maps/@43.820321,-79.38786,3a,75y,90.01h,92.1t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1smeSvz2XyRXp89hbBc0Chzw!2e0) intersection as an example. You can see that in the 2007 shot, the original incandescent CGE signals (8-8-8 on left and 12-8-8 on the right) and peds are still up.

By 2009, everything was changed out and 12-8-8 LED Durasigs replaced the signals and LED Fortan peds replaced the CGE peds. In 2011 the two Eagle Durasigs were removed and TCT 12-8-8-12 heads were installed to provide a left turn arrow. (previously the flashing green ball was used to signify the protected left).

The Streetview dosen't go this far but the LEDs at the intersection were replaced with EOI LEDs.

the only thing I don't like is the older streetviews are low quality compared to the new ones.
