Title: eBay Finds!
Post by: joe_347V on April 29, 2013, 02:33:52 AM
Some more eBay finds of interest:

ITT 400w cleartop merc (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ITT-400W-GURDER-FRAME-CLEAR-TOP-MERCURY-VAPOR-BULB-Light-Bulb-H33-IGL-DX-/221171017511?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337ed1e727)

GE M-400 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/General-Electric-M400-vintage-street-light-luminaire-mercury-vapor-/161012617309?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257d19905d) No ballast and cracked refractor though.

GE Form 109 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/General-Electric-Form-109-vintage-street-light-luminaire-mercury-vapor-/161012613576?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257d1981c8) A bit much probably for most though...

Sylvania NEMA (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sylvania-Street-Light-Fixture-Light-Pole-Outdoor-Parking-Lot-NEW-Never-Used-/230969430399?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c6d9d17f) Looks like a 175w merc but the bucket is broken though.

Wheeler Admiral Hat with arm (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-WHEELER-BOSTON-Street-Light-and-Bracket-/151035026502?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item232a639c46)

GE Form 79 and arm (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-GE-Holophane-Glass-Dome-Street-Light-/261206843500?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd124206c)

New AEL 115 FCO (http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMERICAN-ELECTRIC-LIGHTING-150-WATT-HPS-SECURITY-STREETLIGHT-FLOOD-LAMP-150W-NEW-/221220667677?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3381c7811d) 150w HPS

Old teardrop, (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Vintage-street-light-acorn-pineapple-style-with-textured-glass-/171032565312?pt=Architectural_Garden&hash=item27d255d640) looks like it's intended for series operation though. '

Powerlite Gumball (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUGE-Vintage-Holophane-Style-Public-Street-Light-SHADE-INDUSTRIAL-LIGHT-2-/261199666910?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3cd0b69ede) similar to mine but it looks like it's been repainted and the refractor has a different design. Has the chain and looks to be in better overall condition though. Note seller is in Canada.

Gumball, from the same seller as above (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HUGE-Vintage-Holophane-Style-Public-Street-Light-SHADE-INDUSTRIAL-LIGHT-1-/261199667492?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3cd0b6a124) I'm guessing either a GE or a Westinghouse.

Old F13T5 ballast (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Antique-Flourescent-light-Ballast-1940s-1950s-General-Electric-/261207767560?pt=US_Lighting_Parts_and_Accessories&hash=item3cd1323a08)

Vintage circline fixture (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fleur-O-Ray-Vintage-Art-Deco-Ceiling-Fixture-with-Round-Flourescent-Tube-/251254760998?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7ff36626) Ballast looks like a RS though.

Hmm the ITT Mv lamp seems to have been made by Sylvania. Could the Boston Wheeler have been one that Dave saw in Maine?
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: joe_347V on April 29, 2013, 07:52:55 PM
Yeah, looks like the ITT merc is Sylvania made judging from the base design. They pop up on eBay from time to time too. As for the Boston Wheeler, I have no clue lol I guess you could ask Dave. :P

Found this (http://providence.craigslist.org/art/3751510525.html) on the RI Craigslist recently. I didn't know that the GE M-400A2 was made with a street side socket.
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: Mike on May 03, 2013, 04:18:11 PM
Hmm. the link's not working for me. it's just stuck loading... But yeah all M-400A2 drop lens lights are street side and the M-400A2 FCO was both for whatever reason. How expensive is it and what wattage is it?

Ahh, well here's (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/102661519/Lighting/GoL_Pics/BUY%20ME%21%20--%20A%20Real%20Street%20Light%21.png) a screenshot of the ad. I find it funny the guy is also named Mike. :D
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: Mike on May 03, 2013, 06:33:39 PM
ahh thanks. yeah funny how he has the same name. ;D wow 25 dollars is a steal for the fixture and the arm! Looks like it needs a new refractor though. I've never seen that arm here so i wonder if it was from elsewhere unless they use those arms out in middletown since they were under Western Utilities like the Pawtucket area unlike the Narragansett Electric area which was under the NEES (New England Electric System)

BTW, the M-400R2 has a street side socket too. The drop lens reflectors are the same. What i don't get though is that they used a specially designed reflector for the FCO M-400A2 but for the FCO M-400R2 they used a reflector similar to the FCO M-250R2/A2 reflector. i've heard the FCO M-400R2s have BAD distribution but the FCO M-400A2s and FCO M-400As have pretty good distribution.

Post by: joe_347V on May 05, 2013, 01:27:00 AM
Yeah it is, if it was in my area I would have grabbed if just for the arm, although having a M-400A2 would be pretty cool too. Have no where to put it though unless I stick something in the shed. :P

I came across a B2255 at the surplus place where I got my 1kW Eye MH from though.

Post by: Mike on May 05, 2013, 09:37:34 AM
I'd love it just for the arm too but my parents have already said no to the M-400A2 since I have all those fluorescents on the way lol. (BTW, i sent you an email)

New eBay alert!

Westy 175w merc (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-NOS-WESTINGHOUSE-MERCURY-LAMPS-48-175-WATT-DESIGNED-FOR-H22-OR-H39-/281103994087?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41731a8ce7)

According to the seller they're NOS and have been in storage since the 80s (cleartops have to be older though). If you look through the pics, the seller also has a teardrop lens, a mini gumball refractor, a drop lens, and a NOS M-250R1. :o

SOMEBODY GET THOSE! If I had the money I'd buy em all!
Title: Re: eBay Finds!

I prefer leaving some for others...even if I had the money I would share them with others first.
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: Mike on May 09, 2013, 03:52:42 PM
Oh man i want that M-250R1! It turns out they really WERE called the M-250R1 at one point? That's the first I've seen it called that. They must've started calling it that after 1977... but I WANT FIXTURE!!!!! BWAHAHAHA! I wonder if it's only $17 too :o seems like it needs a lens though since the refractor he/she has is for some version of the M-400... I have a spare shallow GE lens that would fit it and i can use my deep lens from my M-250A since the M-250A has the plastic R2 lens. Maybe if i could bet the R1 I'd swap out the M-250A for it since it looks to be 175W (makes sense since the lamps are 175w) I'll have to REALLY convince my parents (namely my mom lol) Oh boy I'd love a M-250R(1) especially NOS! Hopefully it's 120V and has a PC socket. Maybe the seller will send me a cleartop with it? ;D I doubt my parents would let me get the R1 anyways. :( I can certainly ask though... :D gotta get that light! :o especially if it's the same price as the lamps!

UPDATE: My mom agreed to let me ask the seller a few questions about the light. If it's cheap enough and is 120V, I can get it!!! :D
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: joe_347V on May 09, 2013, 10:38:41 PM
I might be getting one or two of the mercs if I have money but I'm not in a rush to get them since I already have a near NOS Westy cleartop /DX merc. I'm not sure how much the seller would sell the M-250R1 for but I guess you could try messaging him/her on eBay since the description mentioned they accept offers.

If you go for the NOS R1 I guess you'll be one of the rare collectors with a NOS M-400 split door and a M-250R1. :D

I hope you can get it though. ;D
Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: Mike on May 10, 2013, 05:29:15 AM
yeah i don't know if i'll grab a lamp. I'm getting one or two westies from jace. maybe if the shipping on the R1 is really expensive the seller will send me a westie for free... can't rely on that though and i hope shipping and the light's cost is cheap... i asked the seller how much the light is going for as well as a pic of the nameplate so i can be sure it'll work on 120V. The ballast looks identical to my 1960s 175W 120/240V GE ballast so that's what i think it is...

yeah i don't know how many collectors have an NOS M-250R1 and an NOS M-400.  Plus i already have a half restored M-250A. I have almost the whole 1790's GE line and two of the three will be NOS! the only thing about NOS is that i wouldn't want to use it on my pole outback but i might anyway so i can remote ballast it...

Hey anyone want an M-250R2 at a really good price?  link here.  (http://www.ebay.com/itm/industrial-GE-General-Electric-city-street-light-heads-/140973181463?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20d2a80a17) If i wasn't going after the M-250R1 I'd go for one of these. If the M-250R1 turns out to be a not-so-good price or i don't end up getting it I'll probably jump on one of these M-250R2s. Then i'd have my first HPS fixture (and hopefully my first working HPS ballast lol) besides the cooper HPS light i sent Niall a while ago. I can light up my NOS BT25 Westie 70W ceramalux lamp for the first time! the M-250R2 is my second bet though, as my eyes are on the R1 and there's NO way I can talk my mom into letting me get the R2 as well even if i could afford both. Not with the NEMA from Jace coming too and all those fluorescent lights lol. My mom seems to have become less restrictive on my collection size whether or not that's a good thing or a bad thing i don't know lol. I was going to get a M-250R2 from my friend in my algebra class but he hasn't gone out of his way to ask his uncle i can have it so i'm not getting my hopes up...

Title: Re: eBay Finds!
Post by: Mike on May 17, 2013, 07:44:34 PM
cool! I guess I'll pitch in lol:

 here's a BT28 NOS Sylvania 175W /DX  (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Sylvania-Mercury-175R-H39KC-175-DX-Lamp-NOS/390584685232?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D261%26meid%3D7732879196038953523%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D161014640785%26)

and here's a discounted lot of three from the same seller.  (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qty-3-New-Sylvania-Mercury-175R-H39KC-175-DX-Lamp-NOS/161014640785?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D261%26meid%3D7732874813936211898%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D390584685232%26)

and as i type this, my light is coming from my Westie NEMA that arrived today. ;) Glad it arrived but it got some damage from FedOops. >:( :(  The head itself was fine but the PC receptacle has a chunk missing (though still usable) and the reflector got a beating in shipping. Jace sent the refractor which was already cracked but it ironically survived. i was able to roughly reshape the reflector so it at least latches onto the head but it's a little loose. The reflector is quite flimsy which surprised me. i guess that's why they adapted the use of the rippled ones? the smooth ones look better IMO though mines not quite smooth anymore lol. I should have taken a pic before i fixed it up but it's too late now.

the weirdest part is that my parents said they dropped off the box on the back deck. ??? So the guy went through the back gate, around the back yard, and up the deck steps and plopped it on the deck. Why he didn't leave it on the front steps and not walk through out yard is beyond me... Glad to see FedOops is living up to their name and dropping boxes. >:( >:( >:( that's why i prefer USPS becuase i haven't yet had any problems with them, though i've heard plenty about them. I guess the only way to ship something in one piece these days is to drive it to it's new home yourself. :8) I'm still happy with my new light though. :) i'll probably seek out a whole new bucket combo though...

GE F40T12 HPF SINGLE LAMP preheat ballasts. These seem to be rarer than the tulamp model so I would grab one or two as spares.

the 700W MV and 1000W MV GE ballasts are the same, just the cap ratings are different so change the cap and you have a 1000W fixture.

Hmm, mine is Advance but since it's a CWA ballast changing the cap should change the current output.

It looks like the seller for the RMA ships internationally too, although I can only imagine what shipping a cobrahead will cost. O_o

EDIT it's around 90 bucks + $16 customs charge.

106 bucks O_O I'm beginning to think my estimate for the fluorescent fixture (which was pretty much half that) was way off. :o

Yeah, I guess how much it weighs will also play a part on the price though and I think the shipping on the eBay Global Shipping Program is a bit more since the seller has to ship to item first to a company who will then forward the package internationally vs a direct shipment. Plus with a USPS direct shipment, most of the stuff I buy is expempt from customs charges.

USPS Priority and UPS Standard should be the cheapest but I'm not sure about FedEx.  I heard Greyhound (the bus company) ships big and bulky stuff the cheapest but they don't ship across the border only Canada to Canada or US to US.
