Title: 100 watt H-38 Mercury Ballast
Post by: NiMo on February 25, 2011, 07:06:38 PM
Folks, I recently acquired a Sylvania 100 watt mercury lamp.  I need a 120 volt ballast to go with it.

M98 (70W pulse MH) and deactivate the ignitor...

Yep. A 70 watt pulse start metal halide ballast will drive a 100w mercury lamp perfectly with the ignitor removed.,

That's probably the most practical way of running a 100w merc since the ban, I guess if you're lucky you could score a NOS 100w merc ballast on eBay.

Jace has a few extra 100w NEMAs. He'll be sending me one sometime soon. I think he's still pretty busy though

I'd prefer not to gut a fixture just for it's ballast especially something like a NEMA.

Well if he GOT a NEMA he would probably keep it inside the NEMA.

I have two 100w Mercury Vapor ballasts (NEMA head and OV-15) But I am not giving those away. xD

Search on ebay, or try to look around.

I got a can type (like fluorescent) H38 HPF mercury ballast that I'm considering swapping with a M-H can ballast. Shipping may be a bit expensive from Canada as these are heavy. Is there any interest in getting this for $20 plus the shipping? It may be close to $28 to ship to south & west, $22 to NE US.
