Title: Urgently needed
Post by: NiMo on December 20, 2012, 08:47:55 PM
Folks, I dropped my 1/2" ratchet onto my deep M-1000 refractor.  Needless to say, I am down to one M-1000 glass between the two luminaires.  So, my request is for a deep bowl M-1000 refractor.  I will take a shallow glass if a deep one is unavailable.

I may be in luck.  I logged onto National Grid's Asset Recovery surplus website and they have 15 M-1000 refractors for sale (updated this past November so it's pretty current), so I e-mailed the contact to get a price.

I struck paydirt last week and National Grid will furnish me with two M-1000 refractors at $30 a pop with tax.  Now, since I do not trust UPS or FedEx, and since Liverpool is about 3 hours drive time, I'm going to take a vacation day and head on up there to get the glass.

Took the Missus to Liverpool, New York today and went to the National Grid Investment Recovery Center, or as I like to call it, the "candy store", and picked up the glass.  I was expecting used refractors out of old fixtures, but much to my surprise, they were in UNOPENED BOXES!!!!  :o  ;D I posted pics of the refractors and my mid-60s M-1000 with the new glass back in service.
