Does anyone know how to operate or how to wire this? I found it odd.
This is NOT mine.

WOW a SERIES LPS FIXTURE
I am not sure how to wire it...but all I can say is it needs a lot of amps since it was designed for series wiring like the series streetlights.....
Someone here may know though....just ask around...I will announce it so you can get better chance of having someone help you and maybe you could have it in your collection!

You would probably have to change the ballast to operate it. Otherwise you would need a 6.6A AC current source, probably only around 12V AC output voltage, to operate it.

Yeah that sounds about right.....12 volt.....6.6 AMPS AC......LOTS OF AMPS, POTENTIONAL TO KILL....if it had the chance to successfully reach your heart.....in the right situations and time, and amount of water in your body...

Ok.. How is it wired in field circumstances, say a parking lot, garage, tunnel? With many other such units "in series" 120v AC?, 240v..347v??

Wow, I'd love to get one of those. I've been wanting an LPS fixture for a LONG time. But are we sure it would only require 12v @ 6.6a to operate? I thought series streetlight circuits carried much higher voltages....
If somebody could explain I'd appreciate it. I don't wanna spend the $$ unless I can actually run the thing (without spending more $$$ for a new ballast). Thanks.

Do LPS require an ignitor?

Nice find! It's rare to see LPS lumes on eBay especially for this price and that fact that it's series.
I believe series systems were constant current (hence the 6.6A rating) so they ran off of a special transformer called a series regulator which kept the current constant for the string of lights. I believe the voltage changed if you add/remove lights on the string.
@Mike, no they don't use ignitors like mercs and probe start MH lamps.
