It seems that this light pole made from wood. It didn't hit with a force high enough to broke a metal or a more modern concrete light pole.

I saw the aftermath of drunk hits pole ( or three). 2 snapped off clean, but unlucky number 3 landed on his lap upright. Pretty impressive, in that he missed the road, but was still on the verge, right next to the 6m bank down to the conservation area. When I drove past the crews were there wondering how to separate the pieces without dropping it on themselves. We had to wash the car outside and underneath afterwards, the big pool we drove though was not all radiator water...................

That area was kinda notorious for accidents, I always walked on the opposite side of the road then crossed at my turn. Most went into the trees in the valley.
