Title: Philips to close HID lamp plant in USA
Post by: Silverliner14B on December 06, 2012, 05:32:07 AM
I don't have the link on hand right now but I read that Philips is closing down the HID plant in Bath, NY by the end of 2013. The reason is because LED is taking away the HID market share. It says Philips will make HID lamps overseas, probably China and Belgium.

Didn't Phillips already outsource their HID lamps in late 2005?

They moved the production of MV lamps in 2005 and HPS lamps in 2011 out to China. Metal Halide and halogen capsules are all they make in Bath NY now.

Ahh so that explains why the Philips HPS and MV lamps are @#$% while the MH lamps are great...
