I have problem to upload a 2.28MB size picture to the gallery. The site refuse to upload it without any description.
This despite the uploading limit is 2.5MB.
Why this is happens?
-
I think it is host related. I can't fix that so my suggestion is to go around 1.8 MB
-
I think that the upload size limit should be increased, in order to allow us to upload images of higher resolution and quality.
-
What's wrong with it now?!
-
I agree with Rudy, if you resize and/or compress a picture a bit you can still post pretty large and high quality pics and still stay under 1.8mb.
-
yep...and complaining about something that isn't really a problem is annoying
-
You guys are lucky that you can upload files larger than 1MB over here. That's not the case on L-G...1MB is the maximum file size, and it's more than big enough!
-
L-G allows to upload up to 4096 KB files. GoL allows up to 2596 KB files.
L-G have much more server space then GoL.
-
I guess the admin is getting weary about the comparison from this site to the other site. What will you do if the other site goes south leaving this site active?
I am here to distribute my collection and discovery on this site as well as posting my other collection to another site. If one goes, oh well, what can I do. I still have these files and I can always find another one to post my interest 8)

We are not competeing....in fact the Hawk here is Brian himself, which is one of the admins in LG.
Brian here is actually trying to help. (God Bless him!)
Dor123, let me ask, why do you like to pick on every little things and why do you compare everything?
-
That right there is one reason why I don't post as much as I used too...some people complaining about the sites too much, if you don't like it, you don't have to upload you know!
-
be happy with what we have here , we have 2 nice sites for lighting enthusiasts to share their knowledge . LG has certain features, GOL has its specialties too , and they cant be perfect in every way! you get what you get and if you dont like it, please dont complain, it gets nowhere.
-
I agree Rudy and Aaron, I go to both sites because they both have their own specialties, not because I want to compare every single thins on the sites. Also 2mb is more than enough for pics here, if your camera produces pics larger than 2mb then download a image resizing utility online and use it to resize and compress a pic like how I suggested in my above post.
I also wouldn't be so sure as to which site has more space has more server space available unless you've spoken with the webmasters of each site since the size limit for each pic does not represent how much total server space is available.

Unable to upload/Save new Photos, is there a Problem with GOL, when I upload Photos , Fill in the Relevant Details then, Click Continue, I then get,
The previous file could not be placed.
You have successfully placed all the files.

I need more details Colin....

Hi Colin,
I am thinking it may be the file issue, not sure. ??? But, I suggest that you email Jace with the file attach and have him test it out.
Opinion/Rebuttal?
-
Found out the issue was with the Internet Service Provider, they had a technical fault, which limited the uploading from 100mb right down to 5.6kb, anyway they have fixed the issues and uploads have all worked fine now

I had trouble uploading the picture for http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=855 folder. I tried to upload the same picture twice, but no avail. What seems to contributing the problem ???
