Does anyone know or have found any places that STILL install and uses GE M-400A2 (the whole fixture) in new installations or replacements???
Washington DC is WIDELY still using GE M-400A2 FCOs in the newest installations!!!
I know Chicago is still using GE M-400A2s in drop lens instead of the crime fighters for high wattages, but they chose the older GE design over the newer GE M-400A3....
I was told that Arizona is still installing GE M-400A2...but not confirmed....
Anyone else know any other places, cities, areas that are still using the older high wattage family?

IDOT still uses/installs them for highways.

Denver (Xcel Energy) Has been using brand new M-400 R2 FCO's. In some places. When I got that 113 there was a brand new M-400 R2 FCO in the truck with the paper on it.
And I have seen some Brand new M-400 R2's pop up here and there around the Denver area.
-
None that I know of here, they seemed to have switched to the A3 series here or have used a different manufacturer instead.
-
We use the infamous M-400 FCO here.
-
RIDOT likes to use FCO for new installations, but if it's a spot replacement, they won't mix FCO in a drop lens area. N-Grid is all drop lens thoguh.
-
Here too. FCO is installed with FCO and SCO with SCO.
-
National grid installs drop lens no matter what. So if a FCO light has a bad ballast, a SCO light will replace it. FCO only performs its job when all the lights are FCO.

Going back on topic, I wonder what's the price difference between the two different generations of M-400, it could be why some places are opting for the newer design instead.
-
That's probably why the newest M-400 design was introduced- it's cheaper to make. I personally like the M-400R2/A2 distribution better than the M-400/A.

I have recently noticed ONE unusual installation here in MD on I-95...a GE M-400A2 DROP lens...that looks BRAND new...I don't remember a pole being there before....I have taken a pic...I will post it...

Come to think of it I did noticed a new lume that looked a lot like a M-250A being installed 3-4 years ago, it had a plastic refractor though.
-
The M-250a isn't made anymore. That M-250A must have been a refurbished light

It might have been a knockoff too, I remember seeing a spec sheet for a lume that looked a lot like a M-250A

Possibly. A lot of European companies have copied the AEL and GE designs to make cobraheads...

It wasn't European...... I think it was a small Canadian lighting company........
