Title: Left Turn Signals Being Removed
Post by: dbz77 on April 20, 2011, 02:54:57 PM
Is there any reason why left turn signals located on median-mounted poles are being removed in favor of left turn signals located on overhead mast arms? One of my pics was that of a left turn signal pole which had been removed in February.

I think it really depends on the state.....I have noticed each state has different traffic light styles......

It could be that they were gettign hit too much. Or that they just want fewer poles...

Ontario's one of the few places that still uses median mounted signal poles, here's an example of a protected left turn:

They HATE median mounted poles here becuase they're a big target for gettign hit. We use lots of single pole installations here. Just watch those long masts sway in high winds. :o I'm always waiting for them to snap down and crush everythign below it, but of course that doesn't happen lol.

True the median poles here get hit at least once per month.
