Whats different between this tapered arm and the 8ft Curlee? They used 6ft, 8ft, and 10ft tapered ellipticals here. Mostly HAPCO.
Mercuryvapor123   [Mar 08, 2017 at 09:46 PM]
Not much difference at all other than the pole plate.
ZarlogH46   [Mar 09, 2017 at 02:18 AM]
Did you install this?
streetlight98   [Mar 09, 2017 at 02:53 AM]
Yep this is his pole right in his backyard! Very Happy
ZarlogH46   [Mar 21, 2017 at 03:16 PM]
Cool. Did you order this new or was it surplus or something?
Mercuryvapor123   [Mar 21, 2017 at 04:23 PM]
It was new.

How much did this cost? I am considering ordering a 175w PSMH cobrahead from AEL and was originally planning on ordering a 115, but I might get a 125 since who knows how much longer they will be available for.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 25, 2017 at 09:05 PM]
If I can remember correctly the fixture cost me about $300
ZarlogH46   [Apr 26, 2017 at 01:46 PM]
That's crazy. Shocked. I was expecting more around $180 or something. I hope a 115 is cheaper. A 100w PSMH 115 only costs around $110 so hopefully 175w wouldn't be much more.
streetlight98   [Apr 26, 2017 at 03:56 PM]
Yeah $300 is quite surprising! Did that include the shipping?

How much did the tapered arm cost? I'd like to get a newer HAPCO tapered arm. I like the concealed thru-bolt design. Same idea as the GE Powr/Bracket.
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 26, 2017 at 11:41 PM]
The tapered bracket cost about $260
ZarlogH46   [Apr 27, 2017 at 03:10 AM]
Good grief. The arm itself is already bad enough, but are they making HID really expensive now as to push LEDs?
streetlight98   [Apr 27, 2017 at 03:40 AM]
PSMH has always been expensive. HPS is cheaper (that's why it's used more). MV fixtures were even cheaper.
ZarlogH46   [Apr 27, 2017 at 01:05 PM]
How much did MV fixtures cost? I always thought they were the same as HPS.
streetlight98   [Apr 27, 2017 at 03:04 PM]
HPS cost more because it was a newer technology. I don't know if the cost was significant though. When you take into account inflation, the price of fixtures back in the 60s and 70s was probably quite a bit higher than it is today. That's because of automation and less materials being used in today's fixtures (decline in quality basically).

This is from my GE 1977 catalog for the M-250R1:

70W HPS 120V Reactor: $128.00 ($138 for HPF reactor)
100W HPS 120V Reactor: $131.00
100W HPS Regulator: $151.00 for 120V or 240V
150W HPS 120V Reactor: $134.00
150W HPS Regulator: $154.00 for 120V or 240V

100W MV 240V Reactor: $114
100W MV 120V Lag (HX): $125
100W MV 120/240V Regulator: $139
175W MV 240V Reactor: $116
175W MV 120V Lag (HX): $127
175W MV 120/240V Regulator: $141
250W MV 240V Reactor: $129
250W MV 120V Lag (HX): $140
250W MV 120/240V Regulator: $154

You can see the prices are similar, just slightly more for the same HPS ballast as MV (100W HPS 120V reactor is $131, 175W MV 240W reactor is $116).

Where did you order this?
Mercuryvapor123   [Apr 27, 2017 at 11:38 PM]
Through a distributor, Anixter. They supply the power company here.
ZarlogH46   [Feb 17, 2018 at 10:36 PM]
Did this include a lamp?
Mercuryvapor123   [Feb 18, 2018 at 04:28 AM]
Yes but the lamp AEL included was a base up only lamp. So the lamp went dim pretty fast.
