Here's the post light in front of my house. Three 69 watt traffic signal lamps illuminate the house, lawn, sidewalk, driveway, stairs, and porch very nicely. I also changed out a CFL for another TS lamp on the porch light.
Looks very nice! I'm sure all that hard work has payed of nicely. Interesting that you are using traffic signal lamps. Any particular reason for using them or did you just have some extras layign around?
After my mom passed away almost a year ago, my dad and sister approached me with the prospect of taking over my dad's share of the house. The only reason why my sister has majority ownership is because she's been there longer. Now, I used TS lamps because they are rated rough service, and since they're 130 volt lamps being run on 120, they'll use less wattage and last longer. Also, I'm not done with the front. Next spring, I'm going to get a sod cutter and remove the existing lawn, then after installing brick pavers for a flower bed in front of the porch and flexible forms around the pole, a new lawn will be planted.
Ah I see. I have some inside frost 100W 130V (88W 120V) incandescent lamps. They really will last forever just by being under driven 10 volts! They're just a little dimmer.
What I found really neat was the ease at which I was able to assemble the light. There are three bolts that attach the middle section to the base and the head and upper section both screw on. The arms attach with a stud and acorn nut. The entire post is anchored by three bolts embedded in the concrete.
