EPAC Remote Ballasted Area Light
Here's a remote ballast area light I found lighting a small convenience store parking lot. The ballast box has a photocontrol on top and has a presumably MV ballast inside.

Not sure if it would be considered a remote ballast, in a way it seems more like a some kind of "powerbracket" but then again, it doesn't seem to have a replaceable ballast........this is INDEED a great find though.....now not sure, but looking at the lamp in it...but does it look 400 watt sized? You'll have to look at the lamp size......

Thanks Jace, I guess this one might be a 400 watter but I didn't get a clear view of the lamp and this fixture is located pretty far from me. I also found gumball with a similar ballast box attached to it closer to me.

I've seen fixtures similar to this one,it must be an older fixture as it has a tall Ripley Sunswitch PC on it.

I saw one like that at the street lighting contractor I go to, I never thought much of it until after, the next time it was gone Sad

Cool, if you can, the next time you see one there see if you can get some pics or more info about this kind of fixture.
