My Newest Cobrahead: Cooper/Crouse-Hinds OVC
It's the latest addition and literally the newest cobrahead to the collection. It's 50W HPS. I got this from my uncle's friend. Here's a little history behind it:

When he was about my age, this light was in front of my parents' house (his too at the time obviously) and his mom worked for the utility company. Well, she pulled a few strings and got a work order put in to upgrade this light to a 400W floodlight to light up their yard. he had waited and waited for the light to come down so he could get it. In the end, he obviously did. So this light was up for about 7 years before coming down, which is why it looks almost new. this holds the dirt since the paint if textured so it looks worn but i bet once i scrub it with a sponge and some dawn outside it'll shine like new. It was made in 1990 and taken down around the time i was born.

Nice find!!!! I've always wanted to find one if these. At least I got an OVS.
streetlight98   [May 26, 2013 at 01:02 AM]
yeah the OVC is nice. Your OVS is NOS so that's cool! These lenses are THIN too! A hair thinner than the M-250R2 plastic lenses.

Yeah I currently have one of these lens in my OVS and it it's very thin. Also it fits sloppy into the door, but until the LED phase, there were both OVS and OVC with these lens installed.

yeah the rim is very thin. It actually fits okay on this light. the squarer c-hinds plastic lens has a really thick rim that doesn't really with this too well. it's sorta hard to install a lens because it has issues lining up properly.

Nice light! There's several 175 watt mercury vapor versions of these in Cheswick, PA, but they have glass refractors in them.

thanks! Ahh cool that there are some MV versions of this out there. In RI I've only seen the 50W versions. In Attleboro, MA there are 50 and 100W OVCs. This one came from Johnston, RI, one town over from me. it came with a non-eco 50W GE lamp and no PC. I took it apart and it'll be washed outside tomorrow. Too cool out today (61 out now) and it's rainign on and off though the sun remains out most of the time lol.
